There's no such thing as a one-of-a-kind screen-printed T-shirt. That's why we prefer the Nathaniel Renewal line of hand-painted and hand-bleached tops for guys, girls and babies. Designer and company founder Caleb Nathaniel, a 23-year-old from Shawnee, began arting up his own shirts in 2005; friends convinced him to turn the hobby into a business. Nathaniel (or, sometimes, his 3-year-old son) personally applies the paint and bleach to new and vintage T-shirts. Sometimes he stencils in zoo animals; sometimes he just makes huge stripes for a faux-suspender look. "I like graphics on the back that take up the whole shirt," he says. Nathaniel's work has been featured in a Swedish publication, but we like it here at home.
